Tempting cake sales, ‘dress down` days and a hotly contested quiz night were just some of the ways Stockport law firm Gorvins Solicitors raised nearly £4,000 for The Sea Shell Trust.
The Cheadle based charity, which supports children and young adults across the UK with complex learning disabilities as well as other communication challenges, was one of two charities nominated by Gorvins in 2018 as their annual fundraising causes
The other was Mind, the mental health charity.
The law firm raised a total of £7,500 which was divided between the two charities
As well as local and in house events, other fund raising activities included 12 members of Gorvins staff – including managing partner Martin Hoare – taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge which netted £2,000 for Mind.
Sue Westhead, Gorvins Solicitors Head of Marketing and Chair of the Firm’s Charities Committee said “We are extremely proud to have raised this an amount for two incredibly worthwhile charities.
“Without the commitment and enthusiasm of our staff we would not have been able to raise such a figure. I would just like to thank everyone for their support over the past 12 months.”
Managing partner of Gorvins, Martin Hoare, added “By supporting a local charity we are able to work with our local community and see first-hand the positive impact charitable funds and volunteered time can make.”
Members of the Gorvins charity committee presented their donation to The Seashell Trust at their Cheadle headquarters.
“We are so grateful to Gorvins for all their support over the last year and for such an incredibly generous donation” Wendy Bray, Fundraising manager at The Seashell Trust said. “This money will enable the children and young people at Seashell to access assistive technology to enable them to open up the world around them. In addition we will be able to provide sensory equipment as well as support for families who are often very isolated. This is life changing for so many people and we are so very grateful for all the time that everyone at Gorvins gave to raising so much.”
Throughout 2019 Gorvins will continue their fundraising efforts for their newly selected charities Epilepsy Action and Stockport based branch of Headway – the brain injury association.
