Paul Reddy head of our Crime and Regulatory team was instructed to represent Myles, a young businessman who faced two separate offences of speeding on the M6 motorway. One being a speed at 100 mph, the other being a speed at 101 mph. Myles was at risk of at least 6 points being endorsed on his licence for each matter and therefore a 6 month disqualification period under the totting up provisions. Fortunately, we were able to avoid this by persuading the Court that the matters constituted “one continuous offence” and therefore he should not receive two separate penalty point endorsements in relation to each one. Myles was a very satisfied client.
