Gorvins Win Multiple Nominations in National Award Schemes

Partner Christine Thornley, Marketing Manager Paul Longmire and his team and the Commercial Property department at Gorvins Solicitors in Stockport are finalists in two of the legal industry’s most prestigious national award schemes – the Law Society Excellence Awards 2014 and the Eclipse Proclaim Modern Law Awards 2014.

Christine, who jointly heads up the firm’s Wills, Trusts and Probate team is a finalist in two Law Society Award categories. She is up for Legal Business Woman of the Year and Solicitor of the Year – Private Practice.

Christine has also been nominated for Solicitor of the Year in the Modern Law Awards, and the firm’s Commercial Property department is up for Team of the Year in the same scheme.

Lorraine Lockie, Managing Partner said that to be nominated nationally in two separate award schemes spoke volumes for the firm and highlighted its strong performance over the past twelve months. “The individuals and teams involved deserve all our congratulations. These are UK-wide nominations against well respected competition and we are incredibly proud of all the teams involved. We wish everyone well in the forthcoming awards nights in London.”

Christine’s multiple nominations reflect campaigning work tackling the widely-reported crisis around how the financial industry handles Powers of Attorney with customers. Christine sparked debate around the issue, pioneered the introduction of training workshops for banking professionals to restore confidence as well as running free advice sessions for the public.

The marketing team is nominated in the Excellence in Marketing and Communications category in the Law Society Excellence Awards for its successful re-launch of the marketing strategy, which looks to engage employees, drive greater integration with the firm as a whole, give existing clients easier access to information and to attract new.

Commercial Property, jointly led by Partner Martin Hoare, has been shortlisted in the Modern Law Awards for its strong performance throughout 2013/14 working on some of the region’s largest and most influential deals.

Ceremonies will take place at leading hotels in London on October 9th (Law Society) and October 15th (Modern Law Awards).
