Gorvins solicitors has served up yet another deal for MasterChef champion Simon Wood.

Having acted on the commercial lease for the star chef’s first fine dining restaurant, which opened in Manchester last year, the Stockport-based law firm has now handled the operating agreements for two further ventures – restaurants at an hotel under construction in Chester and a WoodKraft restaurant in Cheltenham.

Colin Mellor, commercial property consultant solicitor at Gorvins Solicitors who personally acted on all three transactions, said: “Simon is a huge talent in the restaurant world, bringing imagination, quality and new ideas to this very competitive sector.

“It was a pleasure to work with him and watch the success of his first restaurant lead to further expansion of the company.”

The 40-year-old chef opened his first restaurant, WOOD, in Manchester city centre. It swiftly developed a popular reputation for unfussy, high end quality dining.

Now, Mr Wood, who was crowned winner of the BBC cookery competition in 2015, has brought the company hallmark – local provincial produce made by artisan craftsman – to two further venues.

He has signed a deal with the Cambridge Group to provide a full restaurant, room service menu and cocktails at Hotel Indigo, which is due to open in Chester next year.

Meanwhile, Mr Wood will be opening WOODKRAFT in Cheltenham, an artisan eatery which will bring informal dining to the town’s thriving cafe culture, headed by chef James Cochran.

Mr Mellor added: “It was a great pleasure to act for Simon and to see him go from strength to strength with the very interesting expansion of his business.

“We, at Gorvins, are glad to have played a part in these exciting new ventures.”
