Gorvins Charity Round-Up

At Gorvins it’s time to take one last look on our year of fundraising in 2024 for our chosen charities before we turn our attentions to another exciting year ahead.

In 2024 we have raised over £4,500 split between the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Parkinsons UK, going a little way towards helping them to continue their fantastic work.  In doing so, we have had lots of fun and there have been many highlights!

Kneading to Raise some Dough

In 2024 there have been plenty of bake-offs, with our various teams competing to see who can raise the most money for our charities.  We’ve been on a roll!

We’ve also had quizzes, dress-down days, football cards, book sales and a “Yellow-day” games day to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.  One highlight was our very own Cluedo-inspired murder mystery game which saw most of the firm battling it out to work out which member of the Corporate Team had committed the crime (fictional of course)!

Hitting the Heights

Special mention should also go to our Wills, Trusts and Probate team’s Magdalena Kiszczynska and Julie Burgess and Mia Senior in our Road Traffic Defence team who all undertook personal challenges for our charities.  Magda climbed her first mountain – Snowdon – in support of her partner, who lives with Cystic Fibrosis.  Julie and Mia both completed September half-marathons at the Great North Run and Budapest respectively.  Mission accomplished!

We’d like to say thank you to everyone who pledged their time and money to contribute to our fundraising efforts.

About our charities

2024 marked 60 years of Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and the Trust has awarded over £2m to fund four new research grants to fund projects that target key research priorities identified by people with CF, such as alternatives to current treatment, helping support people with CF as the population is getting older and supporting reproductive health throughout the lifetimes of women and girls with CF.

Parkinsons UK are currently funding over £15m towards research grants programmes,

including international collaborations to strengthen research into testing and treatment of Parkinsons, as well as providing advice and support to those living with Parkinsons are their families.
