Top Lawyer Joins Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Board

Leading lawyer, Christian Mancier, has been made a non-executive director of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

A partner in the corporate/commercial law department at Gorvins Solicitors, the Stockport based solicitor was recently listed in the top five of The Family Business Influencers Global Power List.

Now, in his new role, Christian, 42, is hoping to boost the regional voice of the boroughs of Greater Manchester outside of the city centre.

Said Christian: “I’m delighted to be taking on this role alongside my main role at Gorvins. I`ll be working to make sure GMCC members outside of Manchester city centre are represented and have their voice heard when it comes to local issues and opportunities.”

Christian was made a non-executive director following a long association with GMCC – first attending the Stockport Breakfast Club some 17 years ago and later becoming its chairman.

He then went on to become the local Stockport President of GMCC.  For the last two years he has sat on the GMCC’s Assembly, Policy and Campaigns Committee and Audit & Risk Committee.

As a partner at Gorvins Solicitors, Christian specialises in acting for, and advising owner-managed and family-owned businesses in the SME sector, with a particular emphasis on succession planning. He is also an expert in data protection as well as one of the co-founders of the Greater Manchester Family Business Association.

The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is the largest accredited Chamber of Commerce in the UK with around 4,500 members.  Although based in the city centre, it has a strong presence in all of Greater Manchester’s ten local authority areas. There are nine non-executive directors.

Clive Memmott, Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: “I’m delighted that Christian has joined the Board after a number of years of very active, enthusiastic and valuable work for GMCC at both the local and city region levels.

He’s also a member of our Audit and Risk Committee and the Board appointment will provide a broader perspective of Chamber issues and activities.  In turn Christian will broaden discussions by bringing his knowledge of the Chamber’s work at the local area level.
